Happy International Women’s Day!
Today marks yet another year of kicking ass and working for our dreams.
Historically, we’ve come such a long way and have so much to be proud of. Women today are running their own businesses, starting families, cooking breaky/lunch/dinner and managing to close business deals on the phone while getting their nails done an hour before their flight to Paris. That’s my kind of woman. Doing it all and absolutely killing it – because who said we can’t.
With such big dreams and goals that each one of us has, we can’t help but compare ourselves to the success of other women. It’s so important to take a step back and appreciate all that we, as women, are able to do and accomplish, and rather than feel threatened by another woman’s success, let’s get inspired by it.
We’re all fighting the same battles. Let’s build each other up rather than tear each other down, including yourself.
These next three #girlbosses are my ultimate International Women’s Day inspo. I wanted to share a little bit about their stories with you…
1. The one and only Sophia Amoruso – the OG #girlboss. Nasty Gal founder, author and entrepreneur, I can’t think of anyone or anything else that has inspired me half as much as her story did in the past couple years. Although I’ve finished her book, #GIRLBOSS, I keep it out on my bedside table to remind myself of my goals every day. Plus it looks super cute piled up on top of my next fave book by my next fave #girlboss…
2. The iconic Cindy Crawford – aside from confusing the F out of the world and looking like a total babe at 50, reading her book, Becoming, has opened my eyes to a lot more than just her autobiography. Her story is all about taking chances, leaving home, busting your butt for what you want and accepting yourself no matter what anyone else says.
3. Last but not least, the Aussie legend, Kayla Itsines – although these workouts completely destroyed my knees (shoutout to my lanky legs for not being able to handle jump squats/lunges/anything), Kayla’s BBG workout guides not only make you sweat your brains out to the point where steam comes out of your ears (sad truth), but they also make you realize how unbelievably powerful your body is. You can’t help but admire its survival, plus you get to see it transform to the best version of yourself you’ve ever seen. That is, if you make it. Entrepreneurship and self-love to the max.
The only person you should ever compare yourself to is the person you used to be in the past. Keep moving forward and killing it. Be proud of your progress and don’t let the destination blind you from all that you’re achieving right now. Love yourself no matter where you are in life and no matter what anyone else says. Let’s work together to make this world a better place for the girls of the future.
